We had our bathroom supplied by Tony Moore and installed by Mario Gigov in November 2022. Due to life circumstances I am only writing the review now, and I am glad I waited because over time more and more issues with the bathroom have emerged. Bells will say that Mario is an independent fitter, but as they are happy to have positive reviews of Mario and other fitters, I think it is only fair that I can leave a negative review. Plus, we were never given the option of having an alternative fitter - when we saw Tony Moore at Bells he simply told us that Mario would be installing our bathroom. We trusted him as he said that Mario had installed his own bathroom. Unfortunately I imagine that Mario installed Tony’s bathroom with greater care.
We should have known before installation that Mario would be difficult to work with. He was difficult to communicate with and rude from the start. On the first day he arrived, he realised that I would be at home during most of the work - he immediately told me it would be ‘better’ if I wasn’t there. This was ironic, as Mario then proceeded to ask several questions every single day that he was here so I am not sure how he would have known what to do without me being present.
It was quickly clear that there were other issues. Mario finished by 1pm - 2pm at the latest every single day and always seemed in a rush - I assume now that he had other jobs on. This meant that the installation, which was estimated to take 2 weeks, took over 3 weeks. We were told that Mario wouldn’t be working weekends, but in the end we had Mario and his workers here on two separate weekends.
During installation, Mario installed tiles in the wrong pattern and had to come back to remove these and re-install. He also cut our bath panel in order to fit the space and didn’t prime or seal this. Within 2 months, the panel blew. He denied that he cut the panel even though it was obvious that he had to cut the panel in order to incorporate our waste pipe which runs underneath our bath.
The most significant issues, however, are that we firstly now have several loose, creaky tiles on our bathroom floor despite it being a very low-traffic bathroom. These have gradually emerged, and we are now in a position where we are going to have to have the floor entirely re-done at significant cost, stress disruption with a young baby now part of our family.
In addition to this, we now have grout failing (picture attached) and coming off when we shower all around the wet area of the shower walls, meaning that there is likely to be water penetrating behind our tiles. This is our only bathroom and we can’t use it currently. This is despite using only gentle pH-neutral cleaning products since installation. I dread to think of the potential problems we will encounter behind the tiles.
Bells also supplied the wrong height of toilet, meaning we had a toilet delivered which was too tall and therefore blocked out the bottom of our window. This was eventually resolved after a lot of back and forth.
I strongly advise anyone to avoid Bells, but if you do have to use Bells I strongly recommend that you ask for any fitter other than Mario Gigov.
